Quality Make Up

Most make up that a woman needs can be found at discount prices and purchased for nominal cost at the local drugstores such as RiteAid, CVS or Wal-Mart. As long as you select natural looking colors, discount make up works fine. You might need to try a few make up brands, but even your foundation can be purchased at bargain prices once you find the best brand that is compatable with your skin and coloring.

But there are two makeup's that are so important, that you really shouldn't skimp. Those are concealer, and eye liner. Concealer is critical for the older woman because it covers the blemishes and discolorations of aging skin. You need an emollient one that goes on smooth but has a solid opaque color for flaw coverage. Eye liner is your second critical makeup because it contributes so much to the polished look of your make up. You don't want an easily smeared, faint or off color eye liner. Good concealer and eyliner pencil are essential to creating that flawless look women over forty want.

Eye Liner

The thing about being over forty is that your face is inevitably is going to have aging flaws. If you combine with that make up that is running or wearing off after a long day, it spells messy. Messy make up is the last thing you want since it ages you. Eye liner is the first make up to get runny and faded after a long day.

Out of the available eyeliners, there are gel, liquid and pencil types. For the sake of a clean, neat and precise make up look, pencil is usually the way to go for a make up novice. It stays in place the best and has less likeliness to run. It will however, fade as the day progresses, unless you buy a quality pencil.

If you are buying at the drugstore, I've had luck with Revlon eye pencil, but it has to be the HIP or high intensity pigment version. Physicians Formula has one that stays. It's a mineral make up formulation which is good. The pigment color of the pencil has to be good and it also has to be emollient so that it glides on well. You can also try MAC cosmetics, they have really good ones in pretty dark brown or black colors.

A good eye liner that goes on smooth and has deep long lasting color, is going to cost you close to ten dollars. If the pencil starts to dry up, replace it. If the color is faded or running after a few hours, it's time to switch up and try a different brand eye pencil.

We see the celebrities who are over forty looking spectacular in their make up. That's where we get that fifty is the new forty stuff from. The stars benefit from professionally applied make up, not to mention all of the secret nips and tucks they sneak in. Never fear though because you don't have to be a pro to apply makeup effectively. Moisturize then apply a good quality concealer with a make up sponge prior to foundation. Also, be precise and neat with any eyeliner application. I promise your look will be improved and you'll have spent close to nothing. It's a matter of learning the make up tricks.

Flaw Concealer

The importance of your concealer after forty and well beyond that age cannot be expressed enough! Concealer is the single most fundamental make up trick for older women. Putting it on really isn't too hard however choosing a concealer that works best for you is the big catch. You need a good one and most women settle for what they get without trying out different brands to find the best one in the best shade of light beige.

Concealer is going to camouflage blotchiness and make your skin look pretty. It needs to cover redness, veins, circles under eyes, sallow upper eye skin and blemishes. Liquid versions of concealer go on smoothly for sure, but they don't have good opaque coverage and flaws peer through before long. On the other hand, solid stick concealer's give opaque coverage but they are really dry and when applied over a large area they tend to look too caked and and like the pancake makeup of yesteryear.

A good cream concealer that comes in a pot such as MAC NW concealer is probably the best bet. But you must make sure to moisturize your skin prior to using a creamed concealer to ensure a smooth natural application. This is particularly true if you have dry skin. Concealer over dry skin looks really obvious. First step is to moisturize, then apply concealer over flaws, then continue with foundation.

Concealer can definitely be a few shades lighter than your foundation. Going with a lighter shade of beige will cover dark skin more effectively. Just make sure to follow with foundation that matches your skin coloring perfectly.

Flawless after Forty

A quality flaw concealer followed by foundation that blends naturally with your skin tone and coloring is an essential beauty step for women after forty. Our faces have a tendency to look ruddy and messy with all the faults from wrinkles, blemishes, veins, bags and dark sallow skin that looks ash gray in color. The idea is to neaten up the canvas of your face. This means a quality concealer. Liquid concealers are creamy but in my mind they tend to smear off and away from the flaws which they cover. Within a few hours, darkened skin will peer through. Creams cover better and for longer.

For that flawless look after forty I like a creamy concealer. But even the creams tend to go on dry. The trick is to moisturize your skin first and let that set for a minute before applying the concealer. If your skin is soft with a little bit of adherence to it from a moisturizer, then the creme concealer is going to go on smooth and not be dry and flaky. Trust me that separating the moisturizer and concealer into a two step process does wonders. It gives a much better, long lasting opaque flaw coverage than you would get from the liquid concealers that combine the moisturizer into the product. Hard stick concealers are too dry altogether and really only work to cover isolated blemishes. You need something creamy enough to glide on over your face with a make up sponge.

Eye liner that runs or looks sloppy adds messiness to a face that is already in some sense messy from the fact that there is signs of aging on it. Therefore, you want that eye liner to be neat as a pin! That means, getting a good solid color that is rich in hue and that will stay exactly where you put it without running. It's definitely worth buying a high end drugstore brand at the least, and even worth it to by a quality brand name pencil.

The liquid eye liners have too much of a propensity to run. Liquids always look better on a younger face where eye skin is tight as a drum. At our age since we are going to inevitably have wrinkles and sagging skin in the vicinity of our eyes, it is essential to get a very neat pencil that can go on very close to the lashes. It is going to accent the eyes but not look thick. Make sure to buy a quality eye liner sharpener, preferably metal not plastic to keep the tip of the eye liner pencil nice and sharp. Neatness is key.

TIP FOR WOMEN OF 40 50 60 70 SPEND MONEY ON PRO EYE LINER & CONCEALER Most make up can be purchased at discount prices, but money spent on quality concealer and eye liner is never a waste. Try Revlon Hip or Physicians Formula eyeliner and MAC NW concealer.
